About

Conwy, one of roughly 1000 Scout Districts in the UK covers the area of the unitary authority of Conwy, which includes Conwy,LlandudnoColwyn BayAbergele and the Conwy Valley. Working with ten Scout Groups and a number of Explorer Units, the District provides support to the Scouts and Volunteer Adult Leaders, educating, inspiring and developing young people through a balanced programme which encourages young people to think for themselves, take risks in a safe environment, and learn by doing.

Each section has a team of Leaders and a number of sections form a Scout Group, which is lead by a Group Scout Leader who is effectively the manager of the Group and it’s leaders. The Group Scout Leaders are then responsible to the District Commissioner, a volunteer who leads the District as a whole. The District commissioner is supported by a team, each with responsibilities in a specific area.

To the typical Young person starting Scouting, it may not be clear what the District actually does, normal activities are run by individual Scout groups and sections, however the District works to support volunteers with ongoing training and personal development, develop and improve Scouting, opening Scout Groups and sections which break boundaries and ensure Scouting is available to all young people and ensuring all Scout Groups and sections meet standards that ensure all young people receive good quality Scouting.
